MP-Wi PICKUP

Portable bridge-mounted piezo with built-in wireless capability and volume control for mandolin

KNA's innovative approach enables mandolin players to have freedom of movement while bringing the natural tone of their instrument to an amplifier or mixer.

The system includes a rechargeable transmitter and receiver, and everything needed to plug in and play.

Features

Integrated wireless system

KNA MP-Wi incorporates a wireless signal transmission for a reliable, stable and cable-free connection to an amplifier, mixer or audio interface. The built-in UHF transmitter offers performers a high-fidelity sound with the ability to move around the stage freely.

Safe and quick install

Just mount the pickup jack housing onto the lower bout, just below the F-hole on your instrument's 1st (E) string pair side. Insert the wooden sensor into the bridge, between the base and the top, in the middle of the thumbwheels.

Optional Wired Connection

For the studio or other times when a wireless connection isn’t needed, MP-Wi plugs in with a regular 1/8″ audio cable.

Onboard volume control

Players can control their output signal onstage or in the studio by clicking the onboard "+" and "-" buttons.

Natural sound

MP-Wi has a passive piezo design that reproduces the instrument's authentic voice.

USB C for faster charging

The new UCB C port provides faster charging for the devices at any time.

Instructions

Follow our installation guide through the following steps:

Choose a convenient place for the transmitter. Placement will depend on the size of your instrument and playing technique. We recommend installing it on the lower right (E string side) between the bridge and the F-hole. Some players prefer to install it on the left side, which doesn't alter the functionality in any way.

Extend the clamps by holding the transmitter and the bottom feet of the clamp while loosening the center barrels. After choosing the desired position, tighten the barrels with the provided key.

Carefully position the pickup sensor in the space between the bridge saddle and base of the mandolin's bridge. We recommend the usage of provided shims to set it up according to your own personal preferences.

Install the sensor into the space between the saddle and base of the bridge on the 1st (E) string side with the cable on the outer side of the bridge. Hold the bridge with your free hand, so it doesn’t move while installing the sensor. The sensor should fit snugly but slip into place without excessive force. The sensor should not move while playing but not be so tight as to damage the sensor or bridge.

Carefully connect the piezo sensor into the 2.5mm piezo input on the transmitter.

Use the 1/8" (3.5mm) output in case of low or no battery.

With the volume off, plug the receiver into your favorite high-impedance acoustic amplifier. Turn the transmitter power switch to the “ON” position. The receiver’s green light will flash as it waits for connection.

Turn the receiver power switch to the “ON” position. After successfully connecting, the green light of the receiver will stop flashing and remains solid. Power on the instrument amplifier: Turn on the amplifier’s power, adjust the receiver signal input, adjust the volume, and MP-Wi is ready for performance.
